Once activated by Override lever movement, the Override condition will “latch” and will remain operational until cancelled using the “STOP OVERRIDE” keypad on the Steering Mode Selector Switch (STMS).
During the Override operational (active) condition, the Override control function is the same as standard Non Follow Up rudder positioning allowing the vessel to be steered away from danger immediately and without the need for any other switch selector changes etc.
Typically, the NT1001 OVSW Override electrical connections are routed as directly as possible to the rudder system via the Steering Amplifier (bypassing the Steering Controller).
The NT1001 Override Switch should ideally be mounted close to the Steering Mode Selector Switch (STMS) and is, typically, intended to be an integral component of a Navitron Steering Console or desk control panel. |
